Winter has arrived...
Inspired by the first frost on the shed roof.

Winter arrived
by Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart
Winter arrived, there is frost
on the shed roof
The thermometer says thirty-six
That is always the proof
That Winter has arrived.
The squirrels forage in my back yard
If I throw them some nuts
They bury them in the hard
cold ground.
I now need a coat to walk the dog
Sometimes in a cold wet fog
That the Winter sun will take away
As we walk swiftly along the way
So early in the morning.
In my mind I walk with Bill
Knowing he is gone, but still...
He walks within my heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The pansies in my flower box on the shed do not mind the cold at all. They continue to bloom despite the cold and are known for being hearty. The wind ribbon was made by my Daughter Barbara and I love watching the vibrant colors blow in the breeze from my window.
My inspiration for my poem starts out on a scrap of paper and any handy pen. And my little companion, Lilly snuggles on my lap in the chill of the morning.
God is good, all is well.
Thank you for coming and do visit again soon and comment please...
